Innovative low-pressure technology for effective building protection.

Fighting fire efficiently with water mist

The Minifog EconAqua water mist extinguishing system offers particularly efficient building protection through the use of innovative low-pressure water mist technology. Compared to conventional sprinkler systems, the EconAqua system uses up to 85 percent less extinguishing water, reducing potential water damage to a minimum. The EconAqua control panel can also be designed much more compactly than a classic sprinkler system. This saves space and on-site costs and makes the Minifog EconAqua water mist extinguishing system ideal for retrofitting in existing buildings.

Newly developed - EconAqua Car Park

Thanks to the development of the EconAqua Water Mist Sprinkler U16, EconAqua is now the low-pressure water mist system with the widest range of applications on the market. Furthermore, it is the only system approved by the VdS for use in multi-storey and underground parking lots with a ceiling height of up to 3.6 meters.

Efficacy confirmed - VdS approval received

The effectiveness of the new EconAqua U16 sprinkler has been verified with a range of extensive fire tests under the supervision of VdS Schadenverhütung. They were carried out at the Minimax Fire Research Center based on current VdS and EN requirements. In the test setup for a typical parking garage situation, the effectiveness of EconAqua was compared to a conventional dry sprinkler system as per VdS CEA 4001 (including a safety margin)The EconAqua system successfully passed the fire tests. Furthermore, it was verified that the EconAqua low-pressure water mist system provides the same fire protection as conventional sprinkler systems but at a lower water consumption, thus offering a higher efficiency.

Advantages at a glance

  • VdS-approved low-pressure water mist system with the widest application area on the market
  • Efficient use of extinguishing water helps to reduce the amount of water damage
  • EconAqua sprinklers cover larger protected areas than conventional sprinklers
  • Can also be used as a dry system without pipe trace heating or antifreeze in frost-prone areas
  • Requires less installation space thanks to smaller nominal pipe widths due to lower extinguishing water requirement

        • The nominal pipe diameters used in these areas mainly lie between DN20 and DN40 and are much smaller than those used in classic sprinkler pipework. In standby conditions the pipework in the sections is filled with pressurized water (wet system for frost-proof rooms) or with compressed air or nitrogen (dry system for rooms subject to frost hazard). In the event of a fire, the water mist sprinklers located in the immediate vicinity of the fire activate.

        Applications

The Minifog EconAqua water mist sprinkler systems can be used for a number of applications, covering several fire hazard classes. Classes which are defined in the VdS guidelines for sprinkler systems (VdS CEA 4001).
