Safety in comfort

Overview

Hotels typically have a high density of people. As people spend their time in the hotel rooms both at night and during the day, personal safety must be ensured around the clock. Especially in attractive inner city locations, hotels are often built on many floors. This gives rise to special requirements regarding fire protection, since for example the turntable ladders of fire brigades are generally no longer of sufficient height to rescue hotel guests and staff during an emergency. The risks that may lead to a fire are manifold. Careless smoking in hotel rooms is one of the most common causes of fire. The constant running of light systems may lead to overheating and trigger a fire. In addition, technical defects in auxiliary facilities, e.g. HVACR rooms or emergency generators, may cause the outbreak of a fire. Fires often have devastating effects, especially in hotels built to a great height. Fires can spread very rapidly and uncontrollably via flashover. On higher floors, the safety of persons is particularly at risk through long and possibly blocked escape and rescue routes. Flames, smoke, gas emissions, heat – fire has many facets. Minimax has the right fire detectors for the various areas within a hotel. Their signals converge in the fire detection and extinguishing control panel, which issues an alarm to the people at risk and the fire brigade. In addition, the Minimax panel monitors the installed fire protection system for proper functioning and electrically triggers the extinguishing systems that are not equipped with their own triggering elements, e.g. sprinkler systems. A sprinkler system ensures overall building protection in a hotel. Minimax offers a broad range of sprinkler types and special sprinklers that allow for ideal adaptation of the sprinkler system to the respective installation situation in the various protected areas. Areas with special fire risks or deployment conditions require - either in addition to or instead of the sprinkler system - a tailored volume or local protection system. For this reason, deluge systems, Minifog water mist extinguishing systems, Oxeo inert gas extinguishing systems and halocarbon extinguishing systems are used in hotels. Structural fire protection, as well as technical systems by Minimax Mobile Services, such as fire extinguishers, wall hydrants and smoke and heat extraction systems, complete fire protection in hotels.
